Phantom Keystroker

0

As an April Fool’s Day prank we decided to equip a co-workers computer with the Phantom Keystroker
from ThinkGeek.com.

They have quite a few great prank products but we thought this one would be quite special. And we were right! This thing is small and connects to a computer via USB so its hard to see it just sitting behind a large desktop computer (or a monitor if your monitor has USB ports).

What it does… well, what it did!
It randomly moves the cursor around the screen so it makes you think that your mouse is not quite working right. It will also randomly type! And not only does it type gibberish but it also has a conversation with you! It would play the role of “lonely computer” and it would sometimes ask you to “get me a friend” or “why don’t you play with me anymore?”

This joke continued for about a day before he finally broke down and we had to uncover the prank. It was defiantly worth the small cost for the big laughs in the office!

Am I hearing things?

0

As a change of pace, we decided to play a little “audible” prank around the office.  We wrote a custom program that would run in the background and at random intervals, play a sound.  Not just any sound would do.  We utilized our company’s audio booth and made some custom recordings.  Nothing too special, just whispers of the persons name to make them feel like someone was saying their name.  Below are a couple of the sound clips that were used on their machines.

Want to work from home?

0

Don’t we all wish we could just work from home at some point in time? As a wedding present to a co-worker, who was out on his honeymoon, we gave him this opportunity! Well, more like a “home away from home.” We retro-fitted his cube with a pretty nice little shanty. Fully equipped with a window, flower box, FLOWERS, a mail slot (mainly for wrestling photos), a sky light (actually, this is so we can throw our Nerf darts at him still), and an air vent! We also gave him a small light inside also because its pretty dark inside. He was really surprised when he got back, and not in a mad way. Actually, to this date, his house still stands!

Daily calanders, not just a load of trash!

0

You know what I’m talking about, heck you probably have one on your desk right now, those little desktop daily calendars that give you a bit of inspiration on a daily basis? I’m sure most of you just toss those small square pieces of paper away after you tear the page off (and sometimes read whats on them). Mine was called the “Corporate BS Dictionary.” Everyday it would give you a different definition of a term that you would most likely find in the work place. Well, I actually liked what this one had to say most days and instead of throwing them away I would place them on my cube neighbors desk to read later on.

Well, I guess his collection was getting rather large and I came in to this one morning….

Post-it with love

0

One day while at the office, being the diligent worker that I am, I ran out of Post-it Notes. So I wonder around the office for a few looking for a new stack of stickies. Then, all of the sudden, I found the holy grail. A HUGE case full of about 1,800 Post-it Notes! I thought to myself, that’s a good stock of stickies, I should leave some for other diligent co-workers but then I remembered, they’re on VACATION! Let the fun begin…

Charmin Soft!

0

My next cube neighbor left early on a Friday, BIG mistake around here! My cross cube friend suggested that his seat wasn’t “comfy” enough. So I thought, “Let’s make it CHARMIN SOFT!” And to ensure it wasn’t so easy to take off, packaging tape was used to “hold it in place.” And so it began…

In the beginning….

0

In the beginning, we all knew we were a creative bunch. Some with a slightly sinister side. Well, maybe not sinister, but you get the idea.

I’ll start with a little background info. Back in 2003 our company, who’s identity will remain nameless, purchased an old catholic church to convert into our tech headquarters. Before we purchased the building, it was being used as a preschool so some of the preschool materials were left behind, including an old “Now Enrolling” sign.

This was the first “official” prank. We changed out the phone number to a co-workers and then propped the sign up against his cube.

This was just the beginning….
